How did it get to be DECEMBER so fast??

Well the holidays are here and call me scrooge but I'm just not in the mood for all this garbage. Sure I love the ideal of a White Christmas-family gathered around a bright, sparkly, twinkling tree that was chopped down in its infancy, filling the house with smells of sap; carols being sung by the choir; sleighbells; reindeer; SantaClaus; etc etc etc but I must say its all a bit trite for me lets come up with some new traditions (oxymoronic?) How about we all stop trying to fake it during the holidays - it might prove to lessen the stress of having to spend hours upon hours finding that perfect gift for a hundred of your closest friends and employees...
why don't we all spend the day giving back to eachother, really? by that I mean, instead of spending spending spending and consuming consuming consuming we should educate ourselves on where all the wrapping paper is ending up; we should question why it is such a tradition to cut down trees instead of plant one.
With the risk of sounding like some granola-eating martyr for the environment, I continue...

For those of you out there that will be recieving a gift from me, beware: it may very well be handmade from recycled items.... or at least I like to hope that I will have the time and energy to go against the consumer grain and put some love into what I give this year.
For those of you who plan on giving me something ((Santa included)) this year. I mean, I have been a very very very very very good girl this year if you don't count my multiple arrests at the airport for unpaid tickets or the time I got so drunk and couldn't find a bathroom in time (not barf-just a few trickles of pee down the leg!) all in all i've been a decent human being so do me this favor:
don't give me anything that has been purchased at the mall. The mall is not my friend.

And no, Amazon.com is not the mall - it may be an evil conglomorate of corporations but they still have free shipping and that is a GOOD thing.

And yes, I do have a few pictures from my trip to Colorado last week. I'm extremely bad at taking pictures at opportune times so throughout the week I came up with a total of 7.

The Rocky Mountains are where it's at.
more later.

for now a few sites out there that I have recently stumbled upon and enjoyed:

Modern Lifestyle and Design: Land + Living
Concert Posters, Gig Art, Memorabilia: theshameof rock and roll
The Future is Green, Find it HERE: Treehugger
A trailer for the tasteful: M-house (check it out and tell me you don't want one!!)
