more Mallrats

A previous post declared my hatred for the mall. I will retract that bold statement with a qualifier; I hate the mall for what it represents. And how easy it is to spend your money on what 99% of the people you see and despise everyday are wearing--those very same $60 cargo shorts from Abercrombie and Fitch. Lest me not cast the first stone because I am not without sin. I spend too much money on clothes, and makeup, and other things that I could most certainly do without (thought I'd bitch and moan without my Hipster Thongs from GapBody and my NW20 StudioFix from M.A.C.).

Just don't put a mall on top of a beautiful open space with the same fucking stores that the used-to-be-cool mall down the street had until the suburb you used to live in turned ghetto and you went running for another boondock to make you feel safe. We don't need 8 shopping centers in one city that have an OfficeMax, a RossDressforLESS, a BestBuy, an OldNavy, A Target, Walmart, SamsClub, Academy, CompUSA, TJMAX, Barnes&Noble, TJIFridays, Chilis, Bennigans, Office Depot, HomeDepot, Lowes, Express, ExpressMEN, EddieBauer, Banana Republic, BathandBodyWorks, and a 28 screen movie theatre with stadium seating. I can appreciate each of those such places in smaller doses and each holds a place in my heart for some reason or another. BUT I'm sick of every white-bread city in this country looking the fucking same as the next.

Eminem has some things to say about Middle America. White America. And they aren't too far from being fatally true.

Taking one large step back off of this big ole soap box I've jumped onto unexpectedly......
